Have you ever had a mojito? Tasty, right? If you haven’t, mojitos make everything better. They are so light and refreshing. I was never a big rum fan until I met the dragon berry. You can make this drink with any flavor rum, even original, but dragon berry rum is amazing. Bacardi makes a terrific one. I have the best mojito recipe for you.
This mojito recipe calls for you to muddle mint, lime, and agave, or sugar. Muddling is a technique used to gently mash herbs or fruit to release their juices. The combination of citrus, sweetness, and mint complement the rum, your main ingredient. The only other thing you need is a splash of club soda. I think being so easy and refreshing is what makes this a perfect choice for any sunny day. Photo tip: take 50 pictures, then have your 9-year-old walk up and nail it! Mojitos are deemed to originate from Cuba. They were made as remedies for various tropical illnesses. The root βmojoβ means talisman or magic charm. I told you mojitos make everything better! They have been around for centuries. Experts like James Bond use what they call “mojito icecubes”. The cubes are made of mint, lime, and sugar, as to not water down the concoction. Brilliant!
Ingredients You Need:
Dragonberry Bacardi Rum
Fresh mint leaves
Lime wedges
Freeze dried strawberries
Agave
Club soda
Ice
Highball glass
Muddler
Bar shaker
Start by adding the agave or sugar into a bar shaker. Next, add a slice of lime. Drop 3-4 mint leaves in the shaker and muddle. You will need a muddler to do this. It is a staple in my cabana. Again, muddling is a technique used to gently mash herbs or fruit to release their juices. However, I do not suggest muddling in the glass. It can break easily.
Once muddled, toss in a handful of ice and it’s time to add the rum. Don’t be shy! Make sure to shake well. Pour into a highball glass and top it off with ice. Finally, top with club soda. Garnish with mint and lime. I also like to use freeze-dried strawberries as they have many uses. Enjoy your mojito!
