Pineapple & Sage Margarita Mocktail

margarita

Anytime is a great time for a Margarita, but it especially makes a splash in May for Cinco De Mayo! For some reason, EVERYONE loves to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862. I present to you: the Pineapple & Sage Margarita!

You’re going to love this twist. Pineapple is just so delicious and refreshing. Its sweet flavor collides with the earthy sage, which really compliments tequila. Making this combination is simply amazing. The sage simple syrup is key to enriching the flavor of this cocktail. Make sure to shake, not stir! Drink responsibly, my friends.

Ingredients:

Silver tequila

Orange liquor

Lime juice

Pineapple Juice

Sage simple syrup

Sage leaf

Pineapple garnish

How To Make:

Start by adding ice to a bar shaker. Pour in your tequila and Cointreau, or triple sec. Next, squeeze your lime and add the simple sage syrup. Give it a good shake. Shaking emulsifies the ingredients for an extraordinary flavor. Now it’s time to rim your glass.

Swipe a wedge slice across the rim and dip it into some sea salt. I usually put a few tablespoons into a rimmer, rub the lime around the glass, and just dab the glass in. Fill your glass with ice making sure not to disturb your salt. Using a strainer, pour your concoction into your glass. Garnish with fresh pineapple, sage, and a lime wedge if you choose. Enjoy!

Sage Simple Syrup:

Start by combining 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 5-7 fresh sage leaves in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Make sure to stir frequently until the sugar dissolves. Remove the mixture from heat and discard the sage leaves. Allow syrup to cool to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
