Lavender Lemonade

Lemonade is one of my favorite summertime drinks and reminds me of the dog days of summer. I’ve made a few different varieties of lemonade, and the lavender is my favorite. It pairs so nicely with vodka and makes the most refreshing cocktail, and it’s pretty too. Nothing says summer like this vodka lavender lemonade. Make the lemonade and enjoy it all week long. Add some vodka and you have a vodka lemonade over ice, or using a bar shaker you have a lavender lemon drop martini just shake and strain into a martini glass.

What You Will Need

Vodka

6-8 Lemons

Lavender

Honey

Water

Ice

Highball glass

Bar shaker

Hand held citrus juicer

How To Make The Lemonade

First, start by prepping the lemonade. Grab a large pitcher and juice the lemons into the pitcher. Then add the simple syrup and water and stir. Cover and chill for an hour. The lemonade will stay fresh for up to 7 days. Enjoy with or without vodka over ice.

Simple Syrup Recipe

For the simple syrup, I found that using a culinary grade dried lavender is better than using fresh. The fresh lavender tends to turn the simple syrup a slight green color and has a more bitter taste. Add 1 cup of honey, 2 tablespoons of culinary dried lavender and 1 cup of water bring to a boil. Simmer for a few minutes and take off the heat and allow to cool. Strain using a fine-mesh strainer into a container and store the simple syrup for up to two weeks. Enjoy in coffee, teas, and cocktails.

Cocktail Instructions

To make the cocktail, first, start by adding ice, vodka, and lemonade to a highball glass stir and garnish with a lemon wheel and enjoy! If you have fresh lavender in the garden or in an herbal cocktail garden the fresh flowers make a beautiful garnish. You can also dry your own lavender, this process takes 2-4 weeks to completely dry. I recommend doing this if you have an abundance of lavender plants. But my personal preference I use the culinary grade lavender and can be used for teas baked goods and more!
