Cara Cara oranges are a great choice for this recipe. They are lower in acidity and rank high in sweetness and flavor. With the glaze, you can choose a little or pour a lot! It’s up to you.

If you don’t have cake flour, which is suggested, you can use all-purpose flour. Just substitute each cup of cake flour for a cup of all-purpose minus 2 tablespoons, adding 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Replace buttermilk easily, as well. Using a 1:1 ratio, one teaspoon of vinegar is added per one cup of milk. Start by adding vinegar to a measuring cup and top off with the milk.

Start by whipping the butter then add your sugar. Next, whisk in the eggs and vanilla. Now, add in the juice and the orange zest. Add your dry ingredients to the wet bowl slowly, alternating with the buttermilk, making sure not to over-stir. Spray your pan with a non-stick spray and add all the ingredients. 2-3 tbs fresh orange juice

1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions For Glaze

Whisk the sugar, juice, and vanilla together in a bowl. Use as little or as much juice as your glaze to your liking. The more juice you use the thinner your glaze will be. Drizzle over the entire cake once it is cool and serve.
